For more than 20 years, Rusty Coats has been leading digital transformation in local media for publishers, broadcasters and major technology platforms such as Google and Facebook. As founding CEO of the Local Media Consortium, Rusty drove more than $100 million per year in digital revenues and savings for media companies and helped them align to face the major platforms at scale. Starting as a cops reporter at a small Indiana newspaper, Rusty has worked at all local, regional and corporate levels and is a regular speaker at industry events. He is based in Sarasota, Florida, with his wife, Janet, who advises public media stations on journalism quality and execution, at their shared consultancy, Coats2Coats.
